  • Serve as the Chapter's PR Representative at ASLA

Committee Leadership

  • Attend monthly Executive Committee meetings
  • Participate in Strategic Communications Meetings to contribute to the development of the annual theme and its implementation via ASLA-MN programs
  • Prepare an annual plan with goals, tasks, timelines and budget for the year. Present plan and budget to Executive Committee for approval and inclusion in the Chapter plan and budget. (eta Nov)
  • Form a team as necessary to provide support for timely completion of committee tasks
  • Adhere to the ASLA-MN Expense Reimbursement Policy
  • Develop a communications/marketing plan for each activity, including as appropriate; e-blasts, social media posts, printed postcards, onsite registration materials, etc. with timely implementation for recipient planning
  • Update the annual plan, timelines and budget projections at year-end based on lessons learned and/or new initiatives implemented; meet with incoming Directors after elections to pass on files and review processes

Chapter Branding

  • Ensure that chapter public relations materials are designed in a manner consistent with the chapter's brand

ASLA-MN Annual Public Relations Theme

  • Work with Strategic Communications Committee (ad hoc) to identify annual theme, relevant audiences and promotional opportunities for the year.
  • Ensure that the annual theme is incorporated into Public Relations activities for the year including:
    • Development, Launch, Events, Write-ups, Articles, Year-end summary

Press Releases

  • Maintain current media list
  • Draft press releases for standing programs and distribute to media. Releases are currently issued for:
    • ASLA-MN award winners and ASLA award winners who are members of ASLA-MN
    • Fellows inductees
    • National Landscape Architecture Month (NLAM)
  • Work with Director of Communications to utilize electronic mediums for PR efforts


  • Trade shows where ASLA-MN secures a booth typically: AIA-MN, MNLA
  • Identify other venues for exhibit opportunities. Determine schedules and costs for Executive Committee review.
  • Develop display concept and prepare related materials
  • Secure display furniture and equipment
  • Secure volunteers as necessary to set up, take down and staff exhibits.

Social Media

  • Update social media accounts with information in support of ASLA-MN's marketing and communications plan
  • Manage account credentials (e.g. user names, passwords, e-mail addresses) according to established business rules
