  Produce a high-quality awards program that showcases outstanding projects completed by ASLA-MN members to both internal and external audiences.  

Committee Leadership

  • Attend monthly Executive Committee meetings
  • Participate in Strategic Communications Meetings to contribute to the development of the annual theme and its implementation via ASLA-MN programs
  • Prepare an annual plan with goals, tasks, timelines and budget for the year. Present plan and budget to Executive Committee for approval and inclusion in the Chapter plan and budget. (eta Nov)
  • Form a team as necessary to provide support for timely completion of committee tasks
  • Adhere to the ASLA-MN Expense Reimbursement Policy
  • Develop a communications/marketing plan for each activity, including as appropriate; e-blasts, social media posts, printed postcards, onsite registration materials, etc. with timely implementation for recipient planning
  • Update the annual plan, timelines and budget projections at year-end based on lessons learned and/or new initiatives implemented; meet with incoming Directors after elections to pass on files and review processes

Marketing/Event Promotion

  • Incorporate annual creative theme into promotional material
  • Work with Strategic Communications Committee to identify and invite VIP's
  • Design and mail Call for Entries
  • Design and mail Invitation


  • Secure chapter to exchange jury responsibilities
  • Review current categories, requirements, methods of recognition, forms and fees for relevancy
  • Coordinate judging as follows:
    • Professional awards: partner chapter
    • Service awards: Executive Committee
    • Student awards: Director of Education and Professional Development
    • Lob Pine Award: President

Sponsors / Exhibitors

  • Work with ASLA-MN to develop annual sponsorship options related to the awards celebration
  • Ensure Minnehaha sponsors and other exhibitors are properly recognized onsite via printed materials, podium recognition, etc.

Celebration and Gala

  • Research venues and propose options to the Executive Committee
  • Select menu items and order F&B, furniture rental, audio visual, and other items as needed
  • Prepare onsite presentation
  • Develop script for the evening’s events; coordinate with current, past and incoming presidents
  • Arrange for optional items such as speakers, entertainment, décor/centerpieces, etc.

Winner Promotions

  • Work with Director of Public Relations, Director of Communications, _SCAPE Editor to showcase award winners to assist in promoting winners and the profession of landscape architecture
  • Draft write-ups for all award winners (professional, service, and merit awards); secure images as needed and distribute to relevant departments for publication (website, _SCAPE, press releases, etc.)
  • Deliver award boards to ASLA-MN storage for future use, e.g. as display boards for exhibit at trade shows, etc.
