Lake Superior Design Retreat featuring Landscape Architect Diane Jones Allen (Fri. 24 Feb, 2017 5:00 pm - Sun. 26 Feb, 2017 6:00 pm)

lake-superior-design-retreat-225AIA-MN's 29th annual Lake Superior Design Retreat is February 24-25 in Duluth. This event features six invited design professionals who share their passion for their art and/or craft and discuss their creative stories. One of our six speakers this year is landscape architect Diane Jones.

Diane Jones Allen, PhD, ASLA, PLA, principal landscape architect, DesignJones LLC, New Orleans
Diane Jones’ research and practice is guided by the intersection of environmental justice and sustainability in African-American cultural landscapes, including “Nomadic” responses to “Transit Deserts,” places of increasing transportation demand and limited access. As part of her firm, she has engaged in planning and design efforts related to the rebuild and recovery of the Lower Ninth Ward, the cypress forest restoration in the Bayou Bienvenue Wetlands Triangle, the dismantling of the I-10 freeway, and rebuilding and restoring the Historic District, post-earthquake Jacmel, Haiti — a district that heavily influenced the architecture and urban design of the French Quarter of New Orleans.
